This is a great little airport for North County. It's beautiful and laid out in a great and easy to understand way. Sometimes you can get cheap flights out of here, or at least save time from driving all the way down to downtown San Diego.

In the good old days, United ran flights up to LAX from Palomar, which was stellar for catching international or non-stop domestic flights. The only downside was that upon return there was one person who did everything on the ground so it often took 20 minutes to get luggage. These days there are no regularly scheduled commuter flights, only charter and "shared" flights, as well as private. The runway is too short for most commercial airplanes, and United got rid of all their turbo prop airplanes.
Great airport. Very quiet, very low amount of air traffic. Air traffic has continually dropped since peaking in 1997. Beautiful new terminal and love new flights to/from Las Vegas. Cal Jet Elite is high quality airline. Some members of local community are not aware of how air traffic is routed and encourage them to come to the Palomar Airport Advisory Committee (PAAC) to learn about the airport, aviation and FAA.
OK airport to fly in an out of, but landing traffic frequently ignores FAA regs and buzzes the surrounding community. This includes everything from small aircraft to helicopters and large jets. Unfortunately, the FAA program to get them to stop is "self policing".
